如何對抗垃圾電郵 PDF 列印 E-mail

Two simple steps to fighting spam

Step 1: Don't publish your email on a web page

If you publish your email on a web page, those companies that send spam (called "spammers") can obtain your email address and spam you, driving you nuts. How to solve this problem? In fact, spammers will not collect emails by hand. Instead, they use some programs to scan the web pages on the Internet to collect the emails. Therefore, if we can write our emails so that only human can understand but computers can't, then we're done. For example, we could write " 這個 E-mail 地址已經被防止灌水惡意程式保護,您需要啟用 Java Script 才能觀看 " as "kent at macau dot ctm dot net", or convert it into an image such as Email image. How to convert it into an image? There is a free tool for that: http://digitalcolony.com/02/maskemail/inc/genEmailMask.asp.

Step 2: Use an email filter

If you're already receiving lots of spam, it's too late to hide your email. Then, you can install a spam filtering program. When you receive mails, it can classify the mails and put those junk mails into the trash folder. POPFile (http://popfile.sourceforge.net) is one of the best spam filtering programs. It is free. In addition, its accuracy on my computer has reached 98%. Of course, it's impossible to reach 100%. Therefore, you must still check the trash folder to see if there any useful mails there.

As it can't reach 100%, why use it? If your computer is connected to the Internet most of the time, if you don't have any spam filter, you may receive a mail every few minutes. When you check, most of the time you will find that it is just a junk mail. If you do have a spam filter, it can move it into the trash folder silently and will not tell you that there is new mail. This can save you a lot of time.
